Q1. Write a dialogue between two strangers who met at a bus stop but are trying to become friends by sharing their likes and dislikes. Ask questions and provide answers in the paragraph.


Two boys met at a bus stop. One of them said, “Hi! I’m Ahmed. What’s your name?” The other boy smiled and said, “Hi! I’m Bilal.” Ahmed asked, “Do you like sports?” Bilal replied, “Yes, I love football. What about you?” Ahmed said, “I like cricket, but I don’t like football much.” Then Bilal asked, “Do you like reading books?” Ahmed answered, “Yes, I love reading storybooks! I don’t like scary books, though.” Bilal said, “Same here! I also enjoy funny stories. What colors do you like?” Ahmed said, “I love blue and white. I don’t like dark colors.” Bilal smiled and said, “Me too! I think we can be good friends.” Ahmed agreed happily.

Q3. Difference between stated and implied meaning. Elaborate with the help of examples.


Stated Meaning
Stated meaning is when something is said clearly and directly.
Example:
"I am tired."
— This means the person is clearly saying they are tired.


Implied Meaning
Implied meaning is when something is not said directly, but we understand it from the words or situation.
Example:
"I have been working all day and my eyes are closing."
— The person doesn’t say “I am tired,” but we understand that they mean they are tired.


Q4. Suppose you want to get admission in FA in Allama Iqbal Open University. Write a letter to the university admission office for getting the required information.

Q9. Define rhyme and explain with the help of three sets of rhyming words.


Rhyme

Rhyme is the repetition of similar ending sounds in two or more words, usually at the end of lines in poems or songs.

Example:
- The cat sat on the mat.
(“Cat,” “sat,” and “mat” all rhyme.)

- Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are.
(“Star” and “are” rhyme.)
